Kathy Griffin Takes Back Her Apology for Trump Beheading Photoshoot.
Kathy Griffin has retracted her tearful apology for posing with a bloody mask of President Donald Trump, imitating his decapitation, for a photoshoot in May.
“I’m no longer sorry,” the comedian on Tuesday told Australian morning show Sunrise when asked if she was still remorseful. "The whole outrage was BS. The whole thing got so blown out of proportion and I lost everybody."
Griffin went on to name individuals who spoke out against her, including Chelsea Clinton and "friend" Debra Messing, as well as CNN cutting ties with her and her usual New Year's Eve hosting duties.
"I have been through the mill," she said. "I didn't just lose one night on CNN. My entire tour was cancelled within 24 hours because every single theater got all these death threats. These Trump fans are hardcore."
She doubled down on her retraction later in the interview, despite her public, tearful apology just months prior. "No, I do not apologize for that photo anymore, and I think the outrage is complete BS because we have real things to deal with," said Griffin.
